With a professional tandem pilot, you'll enjoy a safe and unforgettable adventure in the sky. Skip the cliff-jumping and instead feel yourself gently lifted into the sky in a smooth and unique beach take-off. Fly with the birds up to 1,000ft and soak in breath-taking panoramic views of the tropical coastline from rainforest to reef. Opt for some exhilarating aerobatics or simply enjoy gliding peacefully through the sky. After 15-20mins of flying, land gracefully back on the beach, a soft and gentle return to earth after your sky-high adventure.

Availability
Tandem flights are available between June and August. Flights are available daily, typically between 12pm and 5pm.


Location

Wangetti Beach, at the end of Wangetti Beach Road, a 2 minute drive from Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures and Rex Lookout, a 30 minute drive from Port Douglas, and a 40 minute drive from Cairns. Car parking is available.


Weather Considerations

Tandem flights are weather dependent so there may be delays or changes to your flight if weather conditions are unsuitable for flying. We kindly ask for your patience, understanding and flexibility should this situation arise – the weather is out of our control and your safety is our top priority. Please take this into account when organising transport.


Transport

Optional free return transfers from Port Douglas may be available - contact High Adventure to check availability before booking.
Optional free return transfers from Cairns City, Palm Cove and Trinity Beach are available for passengers (if required). Two timing options are available depending on tandem flight times.
1. Morning pick-up : Suitable for tandem flights at 12pm, 12:30pm, 1pm, 1:30pm, 2pm. Pick-up times and locations are noted below. Return departure from Wangetti Beach will be around 3pm.
- Cairns City - 10:45am - Gilligan's (89 Grafton Street)
- Cairns City - 10:50am - Opposite Reef Hotel Casino (34 Esplanade)
- Cairns City - 10:55am - Double Tree by Hilton (121-123 Esplanade)
- Trinity Beach - 11:10am (call to request pick-up location)
- Palm Cove - 11:20am (call to request pick-up location)
2. Afternoon pick-up : Suitable for tandem flights at 2:30pm, 3pm, 3:30pm, 4pm, 4:30pm. Pick-up times and locations are noted below. Return departure from Wangetti Beach will be around 5:30pm.
- Cairns City - 1:15pm - Gilligan's (89 Grafton Street)
- Cairns City - 1:20pm - Opposite Reef Hotel Casino (34 Esplanade)
- Cairns City - 1:25pm - Double Tree by Hilton (121-123 Esplanade)
- Trinity Beach - 1:40pm (call to request pick-up location)
- Palm Cove - 1:50pm (call to request pick-up location)
Booking is required - please choose the relevant pick-up option and pick-up time/location when making your booking. Failure to do so may result in transport being unavailable. You must arrive at your pick-up point 10 minutes before the meet time to avoid missing your transport.
If you organise your own alternative transport, we recommend allowing ample buffer time to account for potential weather delays. We suggest allowing at least 60 - 90mins for your experience. Missed transportation due to weather is not eligible for compensation.


Group Bookings
Group bookings are welcome. For group bookings, please book separate, consecutive 30-minute slots for each individual. After clicking ‘book now’ for one time slot, simply navigate back to the calendar to book a different time slot until all time slots have been selected and added to your cart. Alternatively, please call 1300 610 145 to organise your group booking.



What to Wear / Bring Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather conditions on the day. Perhaps a long sleeved top or light jacket as it may be cooler at higher altitudes. Wear enclosed footwear (e.g. running shoes). We recommend wearing sunglasses and applying sunscreen.

Video & Photos Personal cameras and phones are not permitted during the flight. A GoPro video of your flight is included. Friends and family are welcome to come along and take photos and videos of your flight preparation, launch and landing.


Passenger Requirements Minimum age is 11 years (no maximum age limit!). Weight range for paragliding is between 30-120kg. Basic fitness and good general health are required for safety. Passengers are required to walk up to 300m along the beach (3-5mins) to get to the launch area. Then on take-off, passengers are required to walk briskly for approximately 4 - 5 steps. All passengers must sign a Sports Aviation Federation of Australia (SAFA) insurance waiver. Passengers under age 18 must have a parent/guardian to sign the insurance waiver on their behalf. Refusing to complete the waiver will result in cancellation of the flight and no refund will be given. Not accessible for wheelchair users. Not suitable for pregnant women.

Cancellation Policy If you need to cancel or reschedule your flight, at least 24 hours’ notice is required. If you cancel your flight within 24 hours of your flight time, your payment will be forfeited. If we cannot fly due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we will reschedule your flight free of charge.

What To Expect:
This unforgettable adventure begins with a convenient morning pick-up from Cairns City or Palm Cove. From there, we'll take you to the renowned Hartley's Crocodile Adventures where you’ll have the morning and early afternoon to independently explore this immersive and educational wildlife experience.
Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of crocodiles and discover the diverse native wildlife and unique ecosystems of Tropical North Queensland at your own pace. Witness thrilling crocodile feeding shows, explore discovery trails through woodlands and wetlands, spot more crocs and birdlife as you cruise along Hartley’s Lagoon, and enjoy wildlife presentations including koalas, snakes and more.
And the adventure doesn't end there! Around mid-afternoon you'll be picked up for a short 2-minute transfer to Wangetti Beach. Here, the thrill continues with an exhilarating tandem paragliding flight with High Adventure Paragliding, where you’ll feel the serenity of flight and the rush of adrenaline in one unforgettable experience!
After a unique beach take-off, you’ll soar above the stunning tropical coastline, taking in panoramic views of beautiful beaches, lush rainforest-clad mountains and the Great Barrier Reef. Those seeking an extra thrill can also opt for some exhilarating aerobatics!
Finally, when you’re feet are back on the ground, we'll ensure a comfortable return transfer back to Cairns City or Palm Cove, leaving you with incredible memories of your croc-filled and high-flying day.

Transfer Information: Morning pick-up from Cairns City at 8am or Palm Cove at 8:30am (specific pick-up location will be advised at least 24hrs prior to pick-up). Return departure from High Adventure Paragliding at 5pm (timing may be flexible depending on when tandem flights have been completed). The pick-up time for the transfer between Hartley's and High Adventure will be set on the day based on allocated tandem flight times. Please arrive at your pick-up / departure point 10 minutes before the meet time to avoid missing your transport.


Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures Information: Times for the wildlife presentations are set by Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures. Admission includes one boat cruise. Boat cruise times will be allocated by Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures upon arrival. Cruise time approximately 20 minutes. Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures reserve the right to vary the opening hours, amend or cancel wildlife presentations, animal encounters and boat cruises, alter visitor capacity and restrict the availability of food and beverage without prior notice in response to government directives in relation to infectious disease, severe weather conditions, safety reasons or other operational issues. Children must be both accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times.


Tandem Flight Information: Tandem flight times will be set on the day (likely between 2pm and 4pm). Tandem flights are weather dependent so there may be delays or changes to your flight if weather conditions are unsuitable for flying. We kindly ask for your patience, understanding and flexibility should this situation arise – the weather is out of our control and your safety is our top priority. If we cannot fly due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we will either reschedule your flight or provide a partial refund to cover the cost of the tandem flight only (i.e. the refund will exclude the cost of the return transfers and the admission to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures).
